Helpful Information / Tips
The schools and employment services in this province use a standard format which results in everyone have the same or similar looking resume. Some employers receive so many resumes, they all look the same, so it can become a game of chance as an employer may simply not read or look at all resumes. So for this reason, we suggest bending the resume rules a little as per the list below
Use an interesting yet organized and easy to read template (Microsoft Word has many good ones) Be unique, but keep it simple and well organized.
If using a hard copy (printed version) we suggest using a slightly heavier paper that also has a very light colour to it. Match the colour if possible to the logo or theme colour of the business your dropping your resume at. Perhaps print a few different colours before heading out to deliver your resumes.
Items 1 and 2 above are really bending the resume rules but they will get you noticed if there is a large pile of resumes sitting on the hiring managers desk. This also delivers a message to your potential employer. It says your unique, your thinking, not just copying everyone else and made the extra effort. This helps the employer to notice that you are thinking and will be detailed and effective about your job.

Most people are nervous or shy when going for an interview. In this case, remember, the person who will interview you is just another person like all the other persons around. Be calm, be relaxed, be confident. Don't be worried and when you go for your interview feel inside like the job is already yours and this will help you be calm, relaxed and confident.
